It's such a raw statement full of pain and resilience and honesty. It stuck in my mind as I was making music for the record until a production session with Niels Orens, where Niels found this lovely seed motif which we began to build around, and which I thought could work for the twisted emotional mangle required to deliver the quote. When it came to the video representation I chatted to Hiroki Okamoto / Scuy, whose tightly synced glitch style I thought could lend itself to the music. Hiroki suggested approaching the quote from the perspective of Earth, referring to us as the other party, with the quotes of the database layered over his story of natural chaos. Hiroki Okamoto In this work, I aimed to visually express the relationship and emotions occurring between the two parties in an intense love story between the other and myself/us. The "other" I refer to is my beloved, a concept that extends to nature and AI. The sense of distance with the other, the distortion of the relationship, and the manifestations of climate change resulting from an inability to love fully, among other aspects, synchronize with the characteristics of visual expression, such as glitch effect and flashes in close-up imagery. This brings forth a deep relationship with the other as a visual sculpture. Furthermore, the relationship is so entangled that it can no longer return to its original state, the desire to repair it may be too late, time only moves forward, and the earnest longing to mend the relationship - all of these are expressed through visuals depicting the unnatural processes of nature generated by AI. At the same time, this expression gains intensity from its self-referential structure, as the AI itself is also an "other." The tight connection between music and visuals reinforces an expression that embodies both beauty and aggression of this story.
